Welcome to U3A Moorleigh
The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a community of people who meet to share learning experiences in the "Third Age" of their lives - the age of active retirement. Membership is open to anyone retired, 55 years or over wishing to join with others in a similar situation. Our objectives cover many aspects - some people take up new interests; others share their knowledge and expertise by serving as voluntary tutors; others join committees to plan expansion of our activities; and still more are willing to assist with administration.
Our Aim
The primary aim is to stimulate mental activity and provide the opportunity for continuing education - the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake - not for qualifications or preparation for employment. We have responded to members' needs and have used talents acquired in working life and leisure activity to establish courses to meet these needs. There are no prerequisites or qualifications required for the courses.
Classes
Most of the classes within U3A Moorleigh meet weekly, some for short courses, others for continuing courses throughout the year. Members may apply for as many courses as they wish under the one annual membership fee of $40 per person or $70 per couple. The only exceptions are Computer Courses which carry an extra fee.
